हे मुने! अनादि के संयोग से जब सम्पूर्ण जगत् और खुला हुआ पाताल नष्ट हो जाता है और भगवान की इच्छा से जब प्रलयकाल आता है, जब महत्तत्त्व (पृथ्वी आदि पंच) से लेकर विशेष तक सभी विकार क्षीण हो जाते हैं, तब सबसे पहले जल पृथ्वी के गुणों और गंध को सोख लेता है। यदि इस प्रकार गंध का हरण हो जाए, तो पृथ्वी नष्ट हो जाएगी। 12-14॥
