इस प्रकार पुत्र प्राप्ति में असफलता मिलने पर भरत ने पुत्र प्राप्ति की इच्छा से मरुत्सोम नामक यज्ञ किया। उस यज्ञ के अन्त में मरुद्गण ने उन्हें पुत्र रूप में भारद्वाज नामक बालक दिया, जो दीर्घतमा ऋषि के चरण-चिह्न से स्खलित बृहस्पतिजी के वीर्य से उत्पन्न हुआ था, जो उनकी पत्नी ममता के गर्भ में था। 16॥
In this way, due to failure in the birth of a son, Bharata, wishing to have a son, performed a yagya called Marutsoma. At the end of that yagya, Marudgana gave him a child named Bharadwaj in the form of a son, who was born from the semen of Brihaspatiji ejaculated from the foot-stroke of the sage Dirghatama, who was in the womb of his wife Mamta. 16॥
