न दुष्टां दुष्टवाक्यां वा व्यंगिनीं पितृमातृत:।
न श्मश्रुव्यञ्जनवतीं न चैव पुरुषाकृतिम्॥ १८॥
न घर्घरस्वरां क्षामां तथा काकस्वरां न च।
नानिबन्धेक्षणां तद्वद्वृत्ताक्षीं नोद्वहेद्बुध:॥ १९॥
अनुवाद
बुद्धिमान पुरुष को चाहिए कि वह दुष्ट स्वभाव वाली, कटुभाषी, माता या पिता के अनुसार अंगहीन, मूँछों वाली, पुरुष के समान रूप वाली, रोने वाली, कौए के समान बहुत धीमी या कर्कश आवाज वाली, पंखहीन या गोल आँखों वाली स्त्री से विवाह न करे॥18-19॥
It is advisable for an intelligent man not to marry a woman who is of evil nature, speaks harshly, is without limbs according to the mother or father, has moustache marks, is of a man-like appearance or has a whining sound and a very low or harsh voice like that of a crow, is bereft of wings or has round eyes.॥ 18-19॥
