अकृत्वा पादयो: शौचं दिति: शयनमाविशत्।
निद्रा चाहारयामास तस्या: कुक्षिं प्रविश्य स:॥ ३७॥
वज्रपाणिर्महागर्भं चिच्छेदाथ स सप्तधा।

| एक दिन दिति बिना पांव धोए ही शय्या पर लेट गई। उस समय उसे निद्रा आ गई। तब इंद्र ने हाथ में वज्र लेकर उसके गर्भ में प्रवेश किया और उसके सात टुकड़े कर दिए। इस प्रकार वज्र से आघात पाकर गर्भ जोर-जोर से रोने लगा। 37-38 |
