उस समय उन्होंने जो रामचरित सुना, वह पहले से ही काव्यात्मक रूप में था। वह काव्य वीणा की ताल के साथ गाया जाता था। हृदय, कंठ और मस्तिष्क, इन तीनों स्थानों से निम्न, मध्यम और उच्च स्वरों के भेद से उसका उच्चारण हो रहा था। संस्कृत भाषा में रचित होने के कारण वह व्याकरण, छन्द, काव्य और संगीत की विशेषताओं से युक्त था और गायन के लिए उपयुक्त लय के साथ गाया जाता था।॥15 1/2॥
