उस भयंकर गदा को अपनी ओर आते देख महाबली वानरराज सुग्रीव की आँखें क्रोध से लाल हो गईं और उन्होंने अपनी तलवार उठाकर राक्षस की गदा पर प्रहार किया। गदा तो गिर गई; किन्तु तलवार के बल से सुग्रीव की तलवार भी टूटकर भूमि पर गिर पड़ी।
Seeing that fearsome mace coming towards him, the eyes of the mighty monkey king Sugreeva became red with anger and he raised his sword and struck the demon's mace with it. The mace fell down; but due to the force of the sword, Sugreeva's sword also broke and fell to the ground.
