अयुध्यमानं प्रच्छन्नं प्राञ्जलिं शरणागतम्।
पलायमानं मत्तं वा न हन्तुं त्वमिहार्हसि॥ ३९॥
तस्यैव तु वधे यत्नं करिष्यामि महाभुज।
आदेक्ष्यावो महावेगानस्त्रानाशीविषोपमान्॥ ४०॥
अनुवाद
महाबाहो! जो युद्ध न कर रहा हो, छिपा हो, हाथ जोड़कर शरण मांग रहा हो, युद्ध से भाग रहा हो या पागल हो गया हो, उसे तुम्हें नहीं मारना चाहिए। अब मैं उस इंद्रजीत को मारने का प्रयत्न करूँगा। आओ, हम ऐसे अस्त्रों का प्रयोग करें जो विषैले सर्पों के समान भयंकर और वेगवान हों। 39-40
‘Mahabaho! You should not kill a person who is not fighting, is hiding, has folded his hands and is seeking refuge, is fleeing from the battle or has gone mad. Now I will try to kill that Indrajit. Come, let us use weapons which are as dreadful and as fast as poisonous serpents. 39-40.
