मतिमद्भिर्महामात्रैरनुरक्तैरधिष्ठितम्।

अग्रजस्यालयं वीर: प्रविवेश महाद्युति:॥ ७॥ | | | | | | अनुवाद | | अगले दिन प्रातःकाल ही धर्म और अर्थ का मर्म जानने वाले महाबली विभीषण अपने बड़े भाई राक्षसराज रावण के घर गए। वह भवन अपने अनेक प्रासादों के कारण पर्वत शिखरों के समूह के समान प्रतीत होता था। उसकी ऊँचाई पर्वत शिखरों को भी लज्जित करती थी। वहाँ अलग-अलग बड़े-बड़े कक्षाकक्ष (दोहड़ियाँ) सुन्दर रीति से बने हुए थे। अनेक महापुरुष वहाँ आते-जाते रहते थे। राजा के प्रिय अनेक बुद्धिमान् प्रधान मंत्री वहाँ विराजमान थे। अनेक राक्षस, जो विश्वासपात्र, हितैषी और कार्यकुशल थे, उस भवन की सब ओर से रक्षा करते थे। वहाँ की वायु मदमस्त हाथियों के निःश्वास से मिलकर आँधी के समान प्रतीत होती थी। राक्षसों की शंखध्वनि के समान गर्जना वहाँ गूँजती रहती थी। नाना प्रकार के वाद्यों की मनोहर ध्वनि से वह भवन गुंजायमान हो उठता था। वहाँ सौन्दर्य और यौवन से मदमस्त युवतियों का समूह रहता था। उसके बड़े-बड़े मार्ग लोगों के वार्तालाप से गुलजार प्रतीत होते थे। उसके द्वार तपे हुए सोने के बने थे। वह महल उत्तम सजावटी वस्तुओं से सुसज्जित था, अतः वह गंधर्वों के निवासस्थान तथा देवताओं के निवासस्थान के समान शोभायमान था। रत्नों से युक्त होने के कारण वह नागों के महल के समान चमकता था। जिस प्रकार सूर्य अपनी तेज किरणों से घने बादलों में प्रवेश करता है, उसी प्रकार तेजस्वी विभीषण रावण के उस महल में प्रविष्ट हुए। | | | | The next day, early in the morning, the mighty and illustrious Vibhishan, who knew the essence of religion and wealth, went to the house of his elder brother, the demon king Ravana. That house looked like a group of mountain peaks because of its many palaces. Its height also put the mountain peaks to shame. Many demons, who were trustworthy, well-wishers and skilled in work, protected that building from all sides. The air there mixed with the exhalation of intoxicated elephants seemed like a storm. The deep roar of the demons, like the sound of a conch, kept resonating there. The beautiful sounds of various types of musical instruments made that building resonate. There used to be a crowd of young women intoxicated with beauty and youth. Its large roads seemed to be buzzing with the conversation of people. Its gates were made of heated gold. That palace was well decorated with the finest decorative items, so it appeared as beautiful as the residence of Gandharvas and the abode of the gods. Being full of gems, it used to shine like the serpent palace.
