यान्ति राजर्षयश्चात्र मृगयां धर्मकोविदा:।
तस्मात् त्वं निहतो युद्धे मया बाणेन वानर।
अयुध्यन् प्रतियुध्यन् वा यस्माच्छाखामृगो ह्यसि॥ ४०॥ |

| वानर! इस लोक में धर्म को जानने वाले राजा भी शिकार खेलने जाते हैं और नाना प्रकार के पशुओं का वध करते हैं। इसीलिए मैंने युद्ध में तुम्हें अपने बाण का लक्ष्य बनाया है। चाहे तुम मेरे साथ युद्ध करो या न करो, तुम्हारे मारे जाने में कोई अन्तर नहीं पड़ता; क्योंकि तुम शाखा मृग हो (और शिकार करने का अधिकार केवल क्षत्रिय को ही है)।॥40॥ |
