श्री राम को चित्रकूट पर्वत बहुत प्रिय था। वे बहुत समय तक उसी पर्वत पर निवास करते रहे थे। एक दिन विदेह राजकुमारी सीता को प्रसन्न करने तथा अपना मनोरंजन करने की इच्छा से दशरथपुत्र श्री राम अपनी पत्नी को चित्रकूट की अद्भुत शोभा दिखाने लगे, मानो देवताओं के राजा इन्द्र अपनी पत्नी शची को पर्वतों की शोभा दिखा रहे हों।
Shri Ram loved the Chitrakoot mountain very much. He had been living on that mountain for a long time. One day, with the desire to please Videh princess Sita and to entertain himself, Dasharath's son Shri Ram started showing his wife the wonderful beauty of Chitrakoot, as if the king of gods Indra was showing his wife Shachi the beauty of the mountains.
