आश्रम में प्रवेश करते ही उन्हें दूर से ही ऋषि भारद्वाज दिखाई दिए। उन्होंने सभी मंत्रियों को वहीं खड़ा कर दिया और पुरोहित वशिष्ठ को आगे भेजकर स्वयं ऋषि के पास गए।
