यदि दु:स्थो न रक्षेत भरतो राज्यमुत्तमम्।
प्राप्य दुर्मनसा वीर गर्वेण च विशेषत:॥ २०॥
तमहं दुर्मतिं क्रूरं वधिष्यामि न संशय:।
तत्पक्षानपि तान् सर्वांस्त्रैलोक्यमपि किं तु सा॥ २१॥
कौसल्या बिभृयादार्या सहस्रं मद्विधानपि।
यस्या: सहस्रं ग्रामाणां सम्प्राप्तमुपजीविनाम्॥ २२॥
अनुवाद
'वीर! यदि इस महान राज्य को पाकर भरत कुमार्ग पर चला जाए और अपने भ्रष्ट हृदय तथा विशेष रूप से अभिमान के कारण अपनी माताओं की रक्षा न करे, तो मैं उस दुष्टबुद्धि और क्रूर भरत तथा उसके समस्त समर्थकों का वध कर दूँगा; इसमें संशय नहीं है। यदि सम्पूर्ण तीनों लोक उसका साथ देने लगें, तो उसे भी प्राण गँवाने पड़ेंगे, किन्तु बड़ी माता कौशल्या स्वयं मेरे जैसे हजारों लोगों का भरण-पोषण कर सकती हैं; क्योंकि उन्हें अपने आश्रितों के पालन-पोषण के लिए एक हजार गाँव मिले हुए हैं।
'Valiant one! If after getting this great kingdom Bharata goes on the wrong path and does not protect his mothers due to his corrupt heart and especially pride, then I will kill that evil-minded and cruel Bharata and all those who support him; there is no doubt about this. If the whole three worlds start supporting him, then he too will have to lose his life, but elder mother Kausalya herself can feed thousands of people like me; because she has got a thousand villages to support her dependents.
