जैसे बहुत से बुझे हुए बाणों से हथिनी घायल हो जाती है, वैसे ही श्री रामजी के बहुत से वचनों से सीताजी को बहुत दुःख हुआ; अतः जैसे अग्निशामक हंडे से अग्नि प्रज्वलित होती है, वैसे ही वे बहुत समय से रोके हुए आँसुओं को बहाने लगीं॥ 23॥
Just as a female elephant is wounded by a large number of extinguished arrows, similarly Sita was deeply hurt by the numerous words of Shri Rama; hence, just as a fire-fighting cauldron brings forth fire, in the same way she began to shed the tears that she had been holding back for a long time.॥ 23॥
