प्रतिषिध्य शुभं छत्रं व्यजने च स्वलंकृते।
विसर्जयित्वा स्वजनं रथं पौरांस्तथा जनान्॥ ३४॥
धारयन् मनसा दु:खमिन्द्रियाणि निगृह्य च।
प्रविवेशात्मवान् वेश्म मातुरप्रियशंसिवान्॥ ३५॥ |

| श्री राम ने अपने ऊपर सुन्दर छत्र धारण करने का निषेध कर दिया। उन्होंने सजे हुए पंखों को भी हिलाना बंद कर दिया। उन्होंने अपना रथ वापस मोड़ा, अपने बन्धुओं और नगरवासियों को विदा किया और (अपने प्रियजनों के दुःख के कारण) हृदय में उत्पन्न हुए शोक को दबाकर, अपनी इन्द्रियों को वश में करके, माता कौशल्या के महल में जाकर उन्हें यह अप्रिय समाचार सुनाया। उस समय उन्होंने अपने मन को पूर्णतः वश में कर लिया था। 34-35 |
