अष्टकापितृदेवत्यमित्ययं प्रसृतो जन:।
अन्नस्योपद्रवं पश्य मृतो हि किमशिष्यति॥ १४॥
अनुवाद
‘अष्टक आदि सभी श्राद्धों के देवता पितर हैं – श्राद्ध का दान पितरों को जाता है। ऐसा सोचकर लोग श्राद्ध करते हैं; परन्तु यदि ऐसा विचार करें, तो उससे अन्न का नाश ही होता है। भला, मरा हुआ मनुष्य क्या खाएगा?॥14॥
‘The deities of all the Shraddhas like Ashtaka etc. are the ancestors – the donations of Shraddha go to the ancestors. Thinking this, people engage in Shraddha; but if you think about it, then it only leads to the destruction of food. Well, what will a dead person eat?॥ 14॥
