भरत के मुख से निकले हुए वचन वज्र के समान थे, मानो दैत्य शत्रु इन्द्र ने युद्धभूमि में वज्र का प्रहार किया हो। उन मन को प्रिय न लगने वाले वचनों को सुनकर शत्रुओं को संताप देने वाले भगवान राम दोनों भुजाएँ उठाकर भूमि पर गिर पड़े, मानो वन में कुल्हाड़ी से कटा हुआ वृक्ष जिसकी शाखाएँ पूरी तरह खिली हुई हों (भरत को देखकर भगवान राम प्रसन्न हुए और पिता की मृत्यु का समाचार सुनकर दुःखी हुए; इसलिए उनकी तुलना पूर्ण पुष्पित वृक्ष और पूर्ण पुष्पित वृक्ष से की गई है)॥2-3॥
The words that came out of Bharat's mouth were like thunderbolts, as if the demon enemy Indra had struck the battlefield with a thunderbolt. On hearing those words that were not pleasing to the heart, Lord Rama, who tormented his enemies, raised both his arms and fell on the ground like a tree cut with an axe in the forest whose branches are in full bloom (Lord Rama was happy on seeing Bharat and sad on hearing the news of his father's death; hence he has been compared to a tree in full bloom and a tree in full bloom).॥2-3॥
