राजा दशरथ के ये वचन सुनकर महर्षि वशिष्ठ ने मधुर वाणी में कहा, 'हे राजन! इस शकुन का फल सुनिए। आकाश में पक्षियों के मुख से निकलने वाले शब्द इस बात का संकेत दे रहे हैं कि कोई भयंकर भय उत्पन्न होने वाला है। किन्तु ये मृग जो हमें अपने दाहिनी ओर रखकर जा रहे हैं, हमें सूचित कर रहे हैं कि भय शांत हो गया है। अतः आप इस चिन्ता को त्याग दीजिए।'
On hearing these words of King Dasharath, Sage Vasishtha said in a sweet voice, 'O King! Listen to the result of this omen. The words coming from the mouths of the birds in the sky indicate that some grave fear is about to arise. But these deer that are going away keeping us on their right are informing us that the fear has been pacified. Therefore, you should leave this worry.'
