जनमेजय! वहाँ तप से शुद्ध हृदय वाले महाबली गर्ग ने सरस्वती के उस पावन तीर्थ पर काल, उसकी गति, ग्रह-नक्षत्रों के परिवर्तन, भयंकर विपत्तियों और शुभ लक्षणों का ज्ञान प्राप्त किया था। उन्हीं के नाम पर उस तीर्थ का नाम गर्गस्रोत है॥14-16॥
Janamejaya! There, the great old Garga, who had a pure heart by his penance, had acquired the knowledge of time, its speed, the changes in the planets and stars, terrible calamities and auspicious signs - all these things at that auspicious place of Saraswati. That place of pilgrimage is called Gargasrot after his name.॥ 14-16॥
