उस समय उसे सम्पूर्ण दिशाएँ और सम्पूर्ण पृथ्वी सूनी दिखाई दी । वह अपने समस्त योद्धाओं से रहित हो गया । महाराज ! पाण्डवों को पूर्णतः सुखी, अपनी मनोकामनाओं में सफल और रणभूमि में सब ओर से गर्जना करते हुए तथा उन महामनस्वी योद्धाओं के बाणों की घनघनाहट सुनकर दुर्योधन शोक से भर गया और वहाँ से भाग जाने का विचार करने लगा । उसके पास न तो कोई सेना थी और न कोई वाहन ॥ 17-19॥
At that time, he saw all directions and the whole earth empty. He was devoid of all his warriors. Maharaj! Duryodhan, seeing the Pandavas completely happy, successful in their wishes and roaring from all sides on the battlefield and hearing the whistling sound of the arrows of those great-minded warriors, was filled with grief and thought of running away from there. He had neither an army nor any vehicle.॥ 17-19॥
