अपने शस्त्रों के तेज से समस्त पाण्डवों और पांचालों को पीड़ित करके, बाणों की वर्षा से शत्रु सेना को दग्ध करके तथा सहस्र किरणों वाले तेजस्वी सूर्य के समान सम्पूर्ण जगत् में अपनी कीर्ति फैलाकर, वैकर्तन कर्ण अपने पुत्र और वाहनों सहित मारा गया। भिक्षा मांगने वाले पक्षियों के समुदाय के लिए कल्पवृक्ष के समान वह कर्ण मारा गया॥42-44॥
Having tormented all the Pandavas and Panchalas with the brilliance of his weapons, having scorched the enemy army with a shower of arrows, and having spread his glory all over the world like the radiant Sun with a thousand rays, Vaikartana Karna was killed along with his son and vehicles. Karna, who was like a Kalpavriksha for the community of begging birds, was killed.॥ 42-44॥
