नदीनदं भूरिजलो महार्णवो
यथा तथा तान् समरेऽर्जुनोऽग्रसत्॥ ७४॥
न संदधानो न तथा शरोत्तमान्
प्रमुञ्चमानो रिपुभि: प्रदृश्यते।
धनंजयास्तैस्तु शरैर्विदारिता
हता निपेतुर्नरवाजिकुञ्जरा:॥ ७५॥ |

| परन्तु जिस प्रकार प्रचुर जल से भरा हुआ समुद्र नदियों और झरनों के जल को सोख लेता है, उसी प्रकार अर्जुन ने युद्धभूमि में उन समस्त वीर योद्धाओं को अपने वश में कर लिया। शत्रुओं को यह पता ही नहीं चला कि उन्होंने कब अपने धनुष पर श्रेष्ठ बाण चढ़ाए और कब छोड़े; परन्तु अर्जुन के बाणों से बिंधे हुए हाथी, घोड़े और मनुष्य धड़ाम से गिरते रहे और अपने प्राण खोते रहे। |

| But just as an ocean filled with abundant water absorbs the water of rivers and streams, similarly Arjuna engulfed all those brave warriors in the battlefield. The enemies could not see when he fixed the best arrows on his bow and when he released them; but elephants, horses and men pierced by Arjuna's arrows kept falling down with a thud, losing their lives. |
