हित्वा नवगतीर्दुष्टा: स बाणानाहवेऽत्यजत्।
अनुवाद
युद्धस्थल में भीष्मजी ने दोषों से युक्त अविद्या आदि नौ गतियों को छोड़कर केवल दसवीं गति से ही बाण चलाए। वे बाण पाण्डव पक्ष के घोड़ों, रथों और हाथियों का संहार करने लगे।'
‘On the battlefield, Bhishmaji used to shoot arrows only with the tenth speed, leaving aside the nine speeds like Aaviddha etc. which were full of flaws. Those arrows started killing the horses, chariots and elephants of the Pandava side. 32 1/2.
