‘इसीलिए आज मैं दुःखी हो रहा हूँ। शत्रुओं के समूह में फँसकर नरकरूपी संकट में पड़ गया हूँ। अर्जुन! तुम्हें पहले ही मुझसे कह देना चाहिए था कि ‘मैं सारथिपुत्र कर्ण के साथ किसी भी प्रकार युद्ध नहीं करूँगा।’ ऐसी स्थिति में मैं सृंजय, केकय आदि मित्रों को युद्ध के लिए आमंत्रित ही न करता।॥18 1/2॥

You should have told me earlier that ‘I will not fight with the son of a charioteer, Karna, in any way’. In such a situation, I would not have invited the Srinjayas, Kekayas and other friends for the war.॥ 18 1/2॥
