शल्य उवाच
स पक्षाभ्यां स्पृशन्नार्तस्तुण्डेन च जलं तदा।
दृष्टो हंसेन दुष्टात्मन्निदं हंसं ततोऽब्रवीत्॥ ५६॥
अपश्यन्नम्भस: पारं निपतंश्च श्रमान्वित:।
पातवेगप्रमथितो हंसं काकोऽब्रवीदिदम्॥ ५७॥ |

| शल्य कहते हैं - हे दुष्ट कर्ण ! वह कौआ अत्यन्त पीड़ा से पीड़ित होकर अपने दोनों पंखों और चोंच से जल को छूने लगा था। हंस ने उसे उस अवस्था में देखा। वह उड़ने के वेग से थक गया था और जल का कोई छोर न देखकर नीचे गिर रहा था। उस समय उसने हंस से यह कहा -॥56-57॥ |
