तत: काको भृशं श्रान्तो हंसमभ्यागमत्तदा॥ ५१॥
तं तथा हीयमानं तु हंसो दृष्ट्वाब्रवीदिदम्।
उज्जिहीर्षुर्निमज्जन्तं स्मरन् सत्पुरुषव्रतम्॥ ५२॥ |

| तत्पश्चात् एक अत्यंत थकी हुई कौआ हंस के पास आई। हंस ने देखा कि कौए की दशा अत्यंत दयनीय हो गई है। अब वह जल में डूबने ही वाला है। तब उसने सज्जनों के व्रतों का स्मरण करके तथा उसकी मुक्ति की कामना से यह कहा। 51-52 |
