पदातीनां तु सहसा प्रद्रुतानां महाहवे।
उत्सृज्याभरणं तूर्णमवप्लुत्य रणाजिरे॥ २४॥
निमित्तं मन्यमानास्तु परिणाम्य महागजा:।
जगृहुर्बिभिदुश्चैव चित्राण्याभरणानि च॥ २५॥ |

| पैदल सेनाएँ युद्धभूमि में अपने आभूषणों को त्यागकर तुरन्त ही बड़े वेग से उछलने और दौड़ने लगती थीं। उस समय हाथी भागती हुई पैदल सेना के विचित्र आभूषणों को बहाना समझकर अचानक उन पर आक्रमण कर देते थे और उन्हें अपनी सूँडों से उठाकर दाँतों से कुचलकर तोड़ डालते थे॥ 24-25॥ |
