घोड़ों की टापों की ध्वनि, रथ के पहियों की गड़गड़ाहट, गर्जना और गर्जना, धनुष की टंकार, नाना प्रकार के वाद्यों की ध्वनि, पाञ्चजन्य की गर्जना, देवदत्त नामक शंख की गूँज और गाण्डीव की टंकार, इन सब से मनुष्यों और हाथियों की गति धीमी हो गई और वे सब भय के मारे मूर्छित हो गए। बुद्धिमान अर्जुन ने अपने विषैले सर्पों के समान भयंकर बाणों से उन्हें बींध डाला।
The sound of the horses' hooves, the rattling of the chariot's wheels, the loud roars and thunders, the twang of the bowstring, the sound of various musical instruments, the growl of Panchajanya, the deep sound of the conch called Devadatta and the twang of Gandiva, all slowed down the speed of the men and elephants and they all fell unconscious out of fear. The wise Arjuna pierced them with his dreadful arrows, which looked like poisonous serpents.
