तस्मिन्नहनि निर्वृत्ते घोरे प्राणभृतां क्षये।
आदित्येऽस्तं गते श्रीमान् संध्याकाल उपस्थिते॥ १॥
व्यपयातेषु वासाय सर्वेषु भरतर्षभ।
हत्वा संशप्तकव्रातान् दिव्यैरस्त्रै: कपिध्वज:॥ २॥
प्रायात् स शिबिरं जिष्णुर्जैत्रमास्थाय तं रथम्।
गच्छन्नेव च गोविन्दं साश्रुकण्ठोऽभ्यभाषत॥ ३॥ | | | | | | अनुवाद | | संजय बोले - हे भरतश्रेष्ठ! समस्त प्राणियों के संहार का वह भयंकर दिन बीत जाने पर, जब सूर्य पश्चिम दिशा में चला गया और संध्या का समय आ गया, जब सब सैनिक विश्राम के लिए शिविर में चले गए, तब वानरों के ध्वजवाहक विजयी अर्जुन अपने दिव्यास्त्रों से संशप्तकों का वध करके अपने विजयी रथ पर आरूढ़ होकर शिविर की ओर चले। चलते हुए वे आँसुओं से भरे हुए कंठ से भगवान गोविन्द से बोले -॥1-3॥ | | | | Sanjaya said - O best of the Bharatas!
