अभिमन्यु अभी मुश्किल से बीस कदम ही आगे बढ़ा था कि उसका सामना करने के लिए तैयार द्रोणाचार्य और अन्य योद्धा उस पर आक्रमण करने लगे। जब अभिमन्यु सेनाओं के समुद्र में प्रविष्ट हुआ, तब दो घड़ी तक सेना की वही दशा रही, जैसी गंगा के जल की भँवरें समुद्र से मिलने पर होती है॥13॥
Abhimanyu had barely taken twenty steps forward when Dronacharya and other warriors, ready to face him, started attacking him. When Abhimanyu entered the sea of armies, the condition of the army remained the same for two hours, as it is when the eddies of the Ganges' water meet the sea.॥13॥
