तत्पश्चात् द्रोणपुत्र अश्वत्थामा ने पाण्डवों और पांचालों की सेना पर निशाना साधकर नारायणास्त्र प्रकट किया। उससे आकाश में हजारों बाण प्रकट हुए। उन सबकी अग्रभुजाएँ जल रही थीं। वे सब बाण जलते हुए मुख वाले सर्पों के समान आकर पाण्डव सैनिकों का नाश करने के लिए तत्पर थे। 15-16॥
Thereafter, Drona's son Ashwatthama aimed at the army of Pandavas and Panchalas and revealed Narayanastra. Thousands of arrows appeared in the sky from him. The forearms of all of them were burning. All those arrows came like snakes with flaming mouths and were ready to destroy the Pandava soldiers. 15-16॥
