पांचालराज धृष्टद्युम्न रथहीन हो गए थे। उनके समस्त अस्त्र-शस्त्र नष्ट हो गए थे और वे महान शोक में डूब गए थे। उस स्थिति में शत्रुओं के शत्रु पराक्रमी भीमसेन तुरंत ही उस महामनस्वी पांचालवीर के पास आए, उन्हें अपने रथ पर बिठाया और द्रोणाचार्य को निकट से बाण चलाते देखकर इस प्रकार बोले - 26-27॥
