वहाँ युद्ध करनेवाले योद्धाओं ने रक्त की एक नदी प्रवाहित की, जिसका प्रवाह उन्हें परलोक ले जानेवाला था। वह रक्त की नदी हाथियों और घोड़ों के मृत शरीरों से प्रकट हुई थी। वह मनुष्यों के शरीरों को बहा ले गई। वह शस्त्ररूपी मछलियों से भरी हुई थी। मांस और रक्त उसकी कीचड़ थे। पीड़ितों का विलाप उसकी गुर्राहट थी और ध्वजाएँ और शस्त्र उसमें झाग के समान प्रतीत हो रहे थे।॥16-17॥
The warriors who fought there unleashed a river of blood, the flow of which was going to take them to the next world. That river of blood was manifested from the dead bodies of elephants and horses. It carried away the bodies of men. It was full of fishes in the form of weapons. Flesh and blood were its mud. The wailings of the victims were its gurgling sound and flags and weapons appeared like foam in it.॥16-17॥
