दुर्योधनपुरोवातां रथनागबलाहकाम्॥ ३४॥
वादित्रघोषस्तनितां चापविद्युद्ध्वजैर्वृताम्।
द्रोणपाण्डवपर्जन्यां खड्गशक्तिगदाशनिम्॥ ३५॥
शरधारास्त्रपवनां भृशं शीतोष्णसंकुलाम्।
घोरां विस्मापनीमुग्रां जीवितच्छिदमप्लवाम्॥ ३६॥
तां प्राविशन्नतिभयां सेनां युद्धचिकीर्षव:। |

| युद्ध के इच्छुक योद्धा उस अत्यंत भयंकर सेना में प्रविष्ट हुए, जो मेघों के समान प्रतीत होती थी। दुर्योधन उनके लिए पूर्वा वायु के समान था। रथ और हाथी मेघ थे। युद्ध के वाद्यों की गम्भीर ध्वनि मेघों की गर्जना के समान प्रतीत हो रही थी। धनुष और ध्वजाएँ बिजली के समान चमक रही थीं। द्रोणाचार्य और पाण्डव पर्जन्य के रूप में कार्य कर रहे थे। तलवार, भाले और गदा के प्रहार वज्र के समान थे। बाणों के रूप में जल की वर्षा हो रही थी। अस्त्र-शस्त्र स्वयं वायु के समान प्रतीत हो रहे थे। शीत और ताप से व्याप्त वह अत्यंत भयंकर और भयंकर सेना सबको आश्चर्यचकित कर रही थी और योद्धाओं के जीवन का नाश कर रही थी। नाव के अतिरिक्त उसे पार करने का कोई साधन नहीं था। |
