राजा! सोमदत्त की यह बात सुनकर महादेवजी ने सिर हिलाकर कहा - 'नहीं, ऐसा नहीं हो सकता। हे पुरुषों! शिनिकपुत्र ने पहले ही मेरी आराधना करके तपस्या की है और मुझसे यह उत्तम वर प्राप्त कर लिया है कि वह तीनों लोकों में किसी के द्वारा न मारा जाए; परंतु आपका प्रयास व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगा। आपका पुत्र आपकी इच्छानुसार युद्धस्थल में शिनिक के पौत्र को मूर्छित कर देगा, परंतु वह उसके हाथों मारा नहीं जाएगा; क्योंकि वह श्रीकृष्ण से सुरक्षित रहेगा। मैं श्रीकृष्ण हूँ। हम दोनों में कोई भेद नहीं है। जाइए, ऐसा ही होगा।' ऐसा कहकर महादेवजी वहीं अंतर्धान हो गए॥18॥
King! Hearing this statement of Somadatta, Mahadevji shook his head and said – ‘No, this cannot happen. Lord of men! Shinik's son has already worshipped me through penance and obtained the best boon from me that he would not be killed by anyone in the three worlds; but your efforts will not go in vain. Your son will make Shinik's grandson unconscious in the battlefield as per your wish, but he will not be killed by his hands; because he will be safe from Shri Krishna. I am Shri Krishna. There is no difference between us. Go, it will happen.' Saying this, Mahadevji disappeared there itself.॥ 18॥
