श्रेष्ठ! जब तत्त्वज्ञ और सम्पूर्ण लोकों के स्वामी भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने यह जान लिया कि आप सर्वथा सद्गुणों से रहित हैं, अपने पुत्रों के प्रति पक्षपाती हैं, धर्म के विषय में आपके मन में दुविधा है, पाण्डवों के प्रति आपके हृदय में ईर्ष्या है, आप उनके प्रति कुटिल योजनाएँ बनाते रहते हैं और अन्य मनुष्यों की भाँति व्यर्थ ही अनेक बातें बनाते हैं, तब उन्होंने कौरवों और पाण्डवों में महान् युद्ध का आयोजन किया॥51-53॥
