रथेषु गण्यमानेषु बलविक्रमशालिषु।
संख्यातोऽर्धरथ: कर्णो द्विगुण: सन् नरर्षभ:॥ ३६॥

राजन! जब बल और पराक्रम से सुशोभित रथियों की गणना हो रही थी, तब भीष्म ने समस्त क्षत्रियों के सामने महाबाहु कर्ण को आधा रथी घोषित किया। यद्यपि वह दो रथियों के बराबर था।
