आर्य! तत्पश्चात् महारथी शल्य ने मुस्कुराते हुए एक बाण से नकुल की ध्वजा और दूसरे बाण से उसका धनुष काट डाला। भरत! धनुष कट जाने पर उन्होंने उसे बाणों से आच्छादित कर दिया और युद्धस्थल में उसके सारथि को मार डाला। हे राजन! तत्पश्चात् उस युद्ध में उन्होंने चार उत्तम बाणों द्वारा नकुल के चारों घोड़ों को यमराज के घर पहुँचा दिया। घोड़ों के मारे जाने पर महारथी नकुल तुरन्त उस रथ से कूद पड़े और अपने यशस्वी भाई सहदेव के रथ पर बैठ गये।
