पूर्वकाल में समस्त अस्त्र-शस्त्रज्ञों में श्रेष्ठ जमदग्निपुत्र परशुराम अम्बा की ओर से युद्ध करने आए थे, किन्तु भीष्म ने उन्हें परास्त कर दिया। तुम कह रहे हो कि इन्द्र के समान पराक्रमी और समस्त धनुर्धरों में श्रेष्ठ भीष्म मारे गए हैं। इससे अधिक दुःख की बात और क्या हो सकती है? ॥47-48॥
