अर्जुन ने 'जैसी आपकी इच्छा' कहकर इस कार्य को करने की सहमति दी और गाण्डीव धनुष लेकर उसे अभिमंत्रित करके धनुष पर मुड़े हुए तीन बाण चढ़ाए। तत्पश्चात् भरतवंशी महारथी भीष्म की अनुमति लेकर उन्होंने अपने मस्तक पर उन तीन अत्यन्त वेगवान तीक्ष्ण बाणों को थोड़ा ऊपर उठाकर स्थिर कर लिया।॥ 43-44 1/2॥
Arjuna agreed to attempt this task by saying 'as you wish' and taking the Gandiva bow, he invoked it and placed three arrows with bent ends on the bow. Thereafter, taking the permission of the great warrior Bhishma of the Bharat clan, he blessed his head with those three sharp arrows of extreme speed (he raised them a little and made them steady).॥ 43-44 1/2॥
