भारत! ऐसा कहकर शान्तनु नन्दन भीष्म ने पाण्डवों की ओर इस प्रकार देखा, मानो उन्हें जलाकर भस्म कर देंगे। फिर उन्होंने अर्जुन पर भाला चलाया; किन्तु अर्जुन ने तीन बाणों से उसके भाले को तीन स्थानों से काट डाला।
Bhaarat! Saying this, Shantanu Nandan Bhishma looked at the Pandavas as if he would burn them to ashes. Then he shot a spear at Arjuna; but Arjuna cut off his spear from three places with three arrows. 67-68.
