तत्पश्चात् महाबली भीष्म ने धृष्टद्युम्न को बाणों से बींधकर सिंह के समान गर्जना की। फिर नकुल ने बारह, सात्यकि ने तीन, धृष्टद्युम्न ने सत्तर, भीमसेन ने सात और युधिष्ठिर ने बारह बाण मारकर भीष्म पितामह को घायल कर दिया।
