रथ ही उनके लिए अग्निकुण्ड के समान था, धनुष ज्वाला के समान चमक रहा था, तलवार, भाला और गदा आदि अग्निकाण्ड का काम कर रहे थे। बाण चिनगारियों के समान थे। इस प्रकार भीष्म रूपी अग्नि ने क्षत्रिय महारथियों को जलाना आरम्भ कर दिया।
The chariot itself was like a fire pit for him, the bow was glowing like flames, the sword, spear and mace etc. were acting as firewood. The arrows were like sparks. In this way the fire in the form of Bhishma started burning the great warriors of Kshatriyas.
