'दुर्योधन अपनी आँखों से देखेगा कि उसकी सारी सेना भयभीत होकर भाग रही है और उसे यह भी नहीं सूझ रहा कि किस दिशा में जाए। बहुत से योद्धा टुकड़े-टुकड़े हो गए हैं। सभी सैनिक मूर्च्छित हो रहे हैं। हाथी, घोड़े और वीर राजा मारे जा चुके हैं। सभी वाहन थक गए हैं और सभी योद्धा प्यास और भय से पीड़ित हो रहे हैं। बहुत से सैनिक वेदना से कराह रहे हैं, बहुत से मारे जा चुके हैं और मारे जा रहे हैं। बहुतों के बाल, हड्डियाँ और खोपड़ियाँ सर्वत्र बिखरी पड़ी हैं। मानो विधाता का यथार्थ आदेश हो, यह सब अवश्य होगा। यह सब देखकर मंदबुद्धि दुर्योधन के मन में बड़ी ग्लानि होगी। 62-63।
