एवं वेदमविज्ञाय प्राज्ञोऽहमिति मन्यते।
दानमध्ययनं यज्ञो लोभादेतत् प्रवर्तते॥ ४४॥
अनुवाद
इस प्रकार कुछ लोग वेदों का सार न जानते हुए भी अपने को विद्वान मानने लगते हैं; फिर वे लोभ के कारण (सांसारिक सुखों के फल के लिए) दान, अध्ययन और यज्ञों में प्रवृत्त हो जाते हैं। ॥44॥
In this way, some people, without knowing the essence of the Vedas, start believing that they are learned; then they get involved in charity, studies and performing sacrifices out of greed (for the fruits of worldly pleasures). ॥ 44॥
