संजय! तुम यह तो भली-भाँति जानते हो कि मैं और युधिष्ठिर अपना धर्म नहीं खो सकते, किन्तु तुमने किस आधार पर पाण्डुपुत्र युधिष्ठिर के धर्म के नष्ट होने की चर्चा या शंका की है, जो उत्साहपूर्वक अपने स्वधर्म का पालन करते हुए शास्त्रविहित गृहस्थाश्रम में रहते हैं? गृहस्थाश्रम में रहने की शास्त्रसम्मत विधि होते हुए भी वेदवेत्ता ब्राह्मणों में उसके ग्रहण अथवा त्याग के विषय में भिन्न-भिन्न मत हैं। ॥4-5॥
Sanjay! You know very well that I and Yudhishthira cannot lose my Dharma, but on what basis have you discussed or suspected the loss of Dharma of Yudhishthira, the son of Pandu, who enthusiastically follows his own Dharma and lives in the family (Grihasthashram) as prescribed in the scriptures? Despite the scriptural method of living in the Grihasthashram, the Brahmins who know the Vedas have different views on its adoption or rejection. ॥ 4-5॥
