इन्द्र ने सुखों और मन को प्रिय लगने वाली वस्तुओं का त्याग करके शुभ कर्मों के बल से देवताओं में उच्च स्थान प्राप्त किया। उन्होंने सत्य, धर्म, इन्द्रिय संयम, सहनशीलता, विवेक और सदाचरण का ध्यानपूर्वक पालन किया, जो सबको प्रिय था। इन सब गुणों का सेवन करने के कारण ही इन्द्र ने देवताओं के सम्राट का उच्च पद प्राप्त किया। इसी प्रकार बृहस्पति जी ने भी संयमित और संतुलित मन वाले होकर सुखों का त्याग कर दिया और समस्त इन्द्रियों को वश में रखकर ब्रह्मचर्य व्रत का पालन किया। इसी शुभ कर्म के प्रभाव से उन्होंने देवगुरु का सम्मानित पद प्राप्त किया है। आकाश के सभी तारे शुभ कर्मों के प्रभाव से परलोक में प्रकाशित हो रहे हैं। रुद्र, आदित्य, वसु और विश्वदेवता भी कर्म के बल से ही महत्ता प्राप्त कर चुके हैं। 13-15॥
Indra attained a high position among the gods by the power of good deeds by renouncing pleasures and things dear to his heart. He carefully followed truth, religion, restraint of senses, tolerance, prudence and good behavior which was liked by everyone. It was because of consuming all these virtues that Indra attained the exalted position of the emperor of the gods. Similarly, Brihaspati ji too, having a disciplined and balanced mind, gave up pleasures and kept all the senses under his control and followed the vow of celibacy. Due to the influence of this good deed, he has attained the respected post of Devguru. All the stars in the sky are getting illuminated in the next world due to the effect of good deeds. Rudra, Aditya, Vasu and the world gods have also attained importance due to the power of karma. 13-15॥
