अर्थे वा यदि वा धर्मे समर्थो देशकालवित्।
अर्थसंशयमापन्न: श्रेयान्नि:संशयो नर:॥ ५४॥
अनुवाद
जो पुरुष अर्थ और धर्म के विवेक में कुशल है तथा देश-काल का सार जानता है, वह अर्थ के विषय में संशय होने पर उसे छोड़कर संशयरहित हृदय से केवल धर्म का ही आचरण करता है, तो वह श्रेष्ठ माना जाता है ॥ 54॥
If a person who is skilled in the discrimination of Artha (worldly acts) and Dharma (righteousness) and who knows the essence of time and place, when he has a doubt about the meaning, leaves it aside and performs only Dharma with a doubt-free heart, then he is considered to be the best. ॥ 54॥
