शक्र! यदि आप हमारी सहायता से राजा नहुष को परास्त करने के लिए तैयार हैं, तो हमें भी यज्ञ में भाग लेने का अधिकार होना चाहिए।’ इन्द्र ने कहा- ‘वरुण देव! आप जल के स्वामी हैं, यमराज और कुबेर भी अपने-अपने पदों पर मेरे द्वारा अभिषिक्त हों। हम सब लोग देवताओं के साथ मिलकर अपने भयंकर नेत्रों वाले शत्रु नहुष को परास्त करेंगे।’ तब अग्नि ने भी इन्द्र से कहा- ‘प्रभु! मुझे भी भाग दीजिए, मैं आपकी सहायता करूँगा।’ तब इन्द्र ने उनसे कहा- ‘अग्नि देव! इस महायज्ञ में इन्द्र और अग्नि का सम्मिलित भाग होगा, जिस पर आपका भी अधिकार होगा।’॥ 32॥

You are the lord of water, Yamraj and Kubera should also be anointed by me on their respective positions. All of us along with the gods will defeat our fierce-eyed enemy Nahush.' Then Agni also said to Indra- 'Prabhu! Give me a share too, I will help you.' Then Indra said to him- 'Agni Deva! Indra and Agni will have a joint share in the great sacrifice, over which you will also have a right.'॥ 32॥
