ददाति यत् पार्थिव यत् करोति
यद् वा तपस्तप्यति यज्जुहोति।
न तस्य नाशोऽस्ति न चापकर्षो
नान्यस्तदश्नाति स एव कर्ता॥ २२॥
अनुवाद
हे राजन! मनुष्य जो भी दान देता है, जो भी कर्म करता है, जो भी तप करता है तथा जो भी अग्निहोत्र आदि अनुष्ठान करता है, उसके कर्म न तो नष्ट होते हैं और न ही उनमें कोई कमी आती है। उसके कर्मों का फल कोई दूसरा नहीं भोगता। कर्ता स्वयं ही अपने शुभ-अशुभ कर्मों का फल भोगता है॥ 22॥
O King! Whatever charity a man gives, whatever work he does, whatever penance he indulges in and whatever rites of fire sacrifice etc. he performs, his deeds are neither destroyed nor there is any reduction in them. No one else suffers the consequences of his deeds. The doer himself suffers the consequences of his good and bad deeds.॥ 22॥
