वह जल में विचरते हुए सर्प की भाँति जल में छिपकर रहने लगा। जब देवराज इन्द्र ब्रह्महत्या के भय से अन्तर्धान हो गए, तब यह पृथ्वी लगभग नष्ट हो गई। यहाँ के वृक्ष नष्ट हो गए, वन सूख गए, नदियों का उद्गम नष्ट हो गया और सरोवरों का जल सूख गया ॥46-47॥
He started living hidden in the water like a snake roaming in the water. When Devraj Indra disappeared due to the fear of killing a brahmin, this earth was almost destroyed. The trees here were destroyed, the forests dried up, the source of the rivers was destroyed and the water of the lakes dried up. ॥ 46-47॥
